What to Expect

"We believe that Christian worship joyfully ascribes all praise and honor, glory and power to the triune God. In worship the people of God acknowledge God present in the world and in our lives. As we respond to God’s claim and redemptive action in Jesus Christ, we are transformed and renewed. In worship we offer ourselves to God and are equipped for God’s service in the world." - PC(USA) Book of Order

Traditional Worship at 9 a.m.

Godly Play for Kids from 9:30-10:45

Coffee Fellowship from 10:15-10:55

Contemporary Worship at 11 a.m.

Lao Language Worship at 11 a.m.

The way these dynamic purposes of worship uniquely expresses themselves in our context is through our three worship services: a Classical service at 9 a.m., a Contemporary service at 11 a.m., and a Lao language service at 11 a.m. Each service lasts about 75 minutes.

What to expect at 9 a.m.:

  • A classic, liturgical, Reformed worship service for the whole family
  • Our choir leads the congregation in singing, along with an organ and various other orchestral instruments
  • A Litany, Confession of Sin and Assurance of Pardon
  • We greet each other by passing the Peace of Christ
  • A Moment for Children prior to their dismissal to Godly Play (9:30-10:45)
  • We read the Scriptures together and hear the Word proclaimed.
  • We celebrate Holy Communion together monthly

What to expect at 11 a.m.:

  • A casual, intimate, and relational environment for the whole family
  • A band playing contemporary worship music
  • Multimedia and multisensory elements designed to form our spirits and imaginations
  • We greet each other by passing the Peace of Christ
  • We read the Scriptures together and hear the Word proclaimed
  • We have a Question & Answer after the sermon to give you the opportunity to engage and share your thoughts, ideas, and perspectives. We don't believe that you have to check your brain at the door.
  • We celebrate Holy Communion together weekly
  • We share a meal together on the first Sunday of the month (typically somewhere off-campus)

What to Expect for My Kids

We know how exhausting parenting can be, so it's our desire to support you and your family with a number of options that can connect you with God and each other.

  • Our Nursery is staffed by caring and trained people and is available during both worship services.  Click here for more information.
  • During the 9 a.m. service, children are invited forward to receive a blessing before being dismissed to Godly Play. The Godly Play gathering begins on the courtyard at 9:30 before going into Room 4. Your children will be returned to you at approximately 10:45, so grab a cup of coffee and head to Adult Education or connect with others in the UPC community while you wait.

What to Expect In Between Services

We love to linger. It gives us the opportunity to connect, get to know one another over a cup of coffee, or dive deeper into the Bible or a hot-topic issue in an Adult Education class. Coffee and light snacks are available after the 9 a.m. service ends. Adult Education begins at 10:15 and ends prior to the start of the 11 a.m. service.

Part of being an intergenerational community means that your children are welcome in our worship services. They remind us of this innocence, playfulness, and genuineness God wants from us. No reservations.
