third tuesdays | 6:30pm | Sequoia Brewery
Pub Theology meets the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Sequoia Brewery on the corner of Champlain & Perrin in the Piazza Del Fiore Center. We can seat the first 35 people, so you may want to show up early in order to ensure a spot for yourself.
Launched in October 2015, Pub Theology isn't just an excuse to drink beer and talk about God. Its purpose is for the people of God at UPC to create a safe space for respectful conversations in a public place for people of various (and even opposing) points of view to talk openly, honestly, and without fear about the things that matter most: religion, philosophy, and politics. Each month there is a different topic to tackle.
At UPC we don't claim to have all of the answers; we proudly acknowledge that we are a people in process. We're encouraged to question, explore, learn, and grow. Our reformed heritage even encourages us to have and hold different and opposing views on important issues, highlighting the importance of the freedom of the conscience. This may seem like a given, but it's rare. This is a theological ethos that is a gift we have to share; a way of being a church that's authentic and open to new movements of the Spirit and new ways of doing ministry. It is something people- both young and mature - are yearning for.
