latest updates

Food Distribution temporarily paused (June - August)

Following our May Distribution, UPC’s Food Distribution will be temporarily closed through August as we update the program. Our goal is to reopen in September (we’ll post the confirmation date as soon as it’s set).

We know this pause may be difficult – especially for neighbors who depend on this support. Please hear this clearly: we remain committed to helping feed our community. We’re taking this time to rebuild so we can serve in a way that is client-focused, consistent, and sustainable for the long term.

What we’re improving during the pause:

  • Moving to a choice model so you can select foods that best fit your household (preferences, dietary needs, and family size).

  • Adding scheduled appointment times so households can arrive during a designated window – without need to wait in line for long periods of time.

  • Updating our volunteer and distribution systems  to improve communication, flow, and consistency.

What this means when we reopen:

  • A choice-based shopping experience with clearer options

  • Appointment times and a smoother check-in process

  • A format designed to reduce long waits and improve the overall experience

  • Better matching of food to household needs and less waste

  • A program built to be reliable and sustainable month after month

community garden

Founded by Beth Buchanan as a part of her Girl Scout Gold Award project, our Community Garden grows fresh vegetables and herbs that are given to guests at our monthly Food Distribution. Beth’s vision to provide fresh and nutritious ingredients to families in need continues to bless our neighbors.

Volunteers are needed in the summer months to help harvest, weed and maintain the garden. If you have a couple of hours a month to help this beautiful gift continue, reach out through the link below.
