Immigration

Begins November 1st

The Central Valley is home to nearly 900,000 immigrant workers who are the backbone of our agricultural economy and are by and large unseen and unrepresented members of our community. Changing immigration laws make it increasingly difficult for these individuals to obtain legal documentation and receive the medical and social assistance they need.

Christine Barker, the Executive Director of Fresno Interdenominational Refugee Ministries (FIRM), joins us to discuss the upcoming changes to immigration and refugee policies and the impact those changes have on individuals here in the Central Valley. Christine also shares more about the essential work FIRM is doing through advocacy to change the root problems facing immigrants, as well as their programs to serve the many unique needs of immigrants.

Visit FIRM online at firminc.org to learn more about how they have been a trusted advocate for the refugee community for decades and continues to be a voice for the voiceless as well as train residents to advocate for themselves.
